What is that child doing at a drilling site?!

    Well, it was 74 years ago, and the safety laws were different back then, in 1948.The picture shows Bonnie Maillet at age 4 or 5 playing on drill pipe as her father, Arlie Daniel (in hard hat), rests during his lunch break.

    Bonnie was there just because she was one of those kids who loved to go to work with her Dad, no matter where his work took him. And her Dad loved having her with him, even when he was at work in the oilfield.

    "I'd do anything to spend time with my Daddy," says Bonnie Maillet of Lafayette. "And when I grew up, I followed in his footsteps: I went into the oil business."

Late in her career, Bonnie landed the deal of a lifetime, selling drilling fluid additives to Aramco, the largest oil company in the world, headquartered in Saudi Arabia. She was the first woman ever to sell to Aramco. Talk about breaking the glass ceiling!
